Illustrated Talks and Demonstrations

NEW for 2011 - 'Rhythms of the Wild' - the beauty and drama of nature explored in verse.

The presentation, entitled “ A BRUSH WITH AFRICA” begins with a brief history of how I became a wildlife artist and why I love to paint the birds and animals of that continent.

A slide show of approximately 45 minutes to an hour, travels through Kenya, illustrating some of the exciting and interesting events I have witnessed and which inspire my work. I also include slides of paintings that have resulted from these trips and the methods I use to achieve them.

Finally, I spend 5-10 minutes answering questions.

I usually bring one or two originals with me and at the end of the Presentation I have a variety of prints for sale. I am also available to discuss any aspect of my work.

Average Fee: £40.00
Travelling Expenses: Within a radius of 10 miles from my home it is included. Over 10 miles I charge 40p per mile.

"The speaker, Ruth Baker Walton, showed us wonderful slides and paintings of Africa, which had been such an inspiration for her art, recalling the colours and patterns of the landscape and it's wildlife."

From The Port of Bristol Authority Retired Employees Assoc.,

Clevedon Art Club

Ruth has been a welcome visitor to the Clevedon Art Club. Her talk on the ' Magic of the Okavango' illustrated by her paintings and photographs was inspiring and vividly brought to life the wonder of this exciting region of Africa.

Lately she gave a one-day workshop to our members, advising and demonstrating how to produce accurate and sensitive pictures of wildlife for which she clearly has a great affection.
